The Fitzroy Bridge House

Architecturally designed by Matt Gibson Architecture & Design.
Garden designed by Robyn Barlow Design.

We were chosen to work alongside Robyn Barlow and Matt Gibson for this incredible project. To construct the inner & rear courtyards to implement Robyn Barlow’s design. The Fitzroy Bridge house was an incredible use of teamwork and pushing of possibilities. The Bluestone in the internal courtyard was handpicked and then individually hand-cut to create the step down to the pond while creating an emphasis of rawness while exposing the layers of bluestone’s natural edge, all within a well-balanced, harmonious environment. Everything was handpicked, placed with every inch of detail and thought process. To the custom-made steel planter for housing the bamboo that will grow to soften the divide of the neighbours and reach to the second story. An internal garden that has been maximised by its transparency to be viewed from the above living areas or below through glass or without glass, while taking in its full potential and creating a different outlook and view from many areas of this house.

This project will continue to inspire us and maximise our garden knowledge of what is truly possible for such a small space and what can be achieved within that.

Matt Gibson won an Architecture Award in June at the Australian Institute of Architects Awards Victorian Chapter.
Residential Alterations & Additions Category. Congratulations Matt and team!
